A journey to Inner Mongolia with cashmere
Edwards Brown's cashmere products, which combine tradition and innovation, are all made from the wool of cashmere goats that live in the desolate regions of Inner Mongolia. In order to survive in an environment with little water and food and extreme temperature changes, cashmere goats have developed a layer of fine fibers that protects them from the cold, like an underfleece, over their skin.
Seeking traceability and excellence in cashmere raw materials.
The herders who live with the cashmere goats respect the cycle of both the animals and nature, and live with them throughout the year in the harsh natural environment of Inner Mongolia. After the long, harsh winter, the weather becomes milder and the cashmere goats naturally lose their wool. The wool is harvested from March to May. Due to its characteristics, rarity, and the long time it takes to harvest, cashmere is considered the finest fiber in the world.
Pursuing sustainability in cashmere and transparency in GCS certification.
Edward Brown is working to switch all cashmere materials used to GCS (Good Cashmere Standard) certified cashmere by 2026. This is aimed at maintaining the sustainability of cashmere farming, preserving the environment of cashmere goats, and maintaining quality. Working with local partners, we are creating a production system that allows us to trace raw materials back to their place of origin at every stage of production of cashmere products.
